Love What You Fund ("we," "our," "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to your use of lovewhatyoufund.com (the "Platform").
We do not process payments. Donations are processed by a third-party donation provider (currently Every.org), which acts as the merchant of record. Payment information (card numbers, bank details, billing address) is collected directly by Every.org on its hosted checkout and is never seen by, transmitted through, or stored on our servers. See Every.org's Privacy Policy for how they handle that data.
After a donation is completed on Every.org, Every.org sends us a record of the transaction. That record may include your name, email address, donation amount, frequency, donation date, and any public message you left at checkout. We use this information to attribute the donation to the correct nonprofit and project on the Platform, send you confirmations, and report aggregate impact to nonprofits.
When you use the Platform, we automatically collect technical and usage information, including IP address, browser type and version, device and operating system, referring URL, pages viewed, and timestamps. We log IP addresses and approximate location for security, fraud prevention, compliance, and operational purposes.
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and understand how the Platform is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though disabling them may affect Platform functionality.
We use the information we collect to:
When you donate, we share information about the donation with the receiving nonprofit so they can recognize your contribution and comply with tax and regulatory requirements. This typically includes your name, email, donation amount, date, and any public message. If you donate anonymously, your name will not be displayed publicly on the Platform, but the nonprofit and Every.org may still receive identifying information for tax-receipt and compliance purposes.
We share information with trusted vendors who help us operate the Platform, under contractual confidentiality and use restrictions:
We may disclose information when we reasonably believe it is necessary to:
If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will provide notice if your information becomes subject to a materially different privacy policy.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own independent advertising or marketing purposes.
We send transactional emails (such as donation confirmations, account notices, and service-related messages) and may send updates about nonprofits you support, projects you have followed, or platform news. You can opt out of non-transactional emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in any such email or by visiting your unsubscribe page. Transactional emails cannot be opted out of while you maintain an account.
We automatically suppress email addresses that hard-bounce or report spam, in line with industry best practices.
Our emails may contain small tracking pixels and tracked links that tell us whether an email was opened or clicked, along with related technical data such as your IP address, device, and the time of interaction. We use this to measure and improve our communications. You can limit this by disabling automatic image loading in your email client, or by unsubscribing from non-transactional emails.
We implement reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect your information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), secure password hashing, restricted access controls, and logging. No system is perfectly secure; while we work hard to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We retain your information for as long as necessary to provide the Platform, comply with our legal obligations (including tax and recordkeeping requirements), resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Donation records are retained for the period required by applicable law and by the recipient charity.
Account information, donation history, communications, and operational logs (which may include IP address and approximate location) are generally retained for the life of your account and for a reasonable period afterward for legal, tax, security, and recordkeeping purposes. You can request deletion as described in Section 8, and we will honor it except where we are required or permitted by law to retain certain records.
You can review and update your account information by signing in, delete your account from your profile settings, or request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by emailing support@lovewhatyoufund.com.
When you delete your account, we remove the personal information in your account profile and disable sign-in. We retain records of completed donations — including the name and email associated with each donation — along with related communications, as required for tax, accounting, audit, fraud-prevention, and legal recordkeeping. Those donation records are also held by Every.org and the recipient nonprofit, and are not deleted when you close your account.
We do not currently respond to "Do Not Track" browser signals, as there is no industry-standard interpretation of them.
The Platform is intended for users 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
The Platform is operated in the United States. If you access the Platform from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the U.S. Donations may be limited or unavailable in certain regions due to charitable solicitation regulations and our donation provider's policies.
Residents of certain U.S. states (including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, and others with comprehensive consumer-privacy laws) have additional rights regarding their personal information, which may include the right to know, access, correct, delete, and opt out of certain processing activities. We do not sell personal information and do not engage in targeted advertising. To exercise your rights, contact us at support@lovewhatyoufund.com. We will respond as required by applicable law and will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy on the Platform and update the "Last updated" date. Material changes will be communicated through the Platform or by email. Your continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
