Overview

About Greater San Marcos Area Senior Asso

At The Price Center, a yoga class can happen the same day as a gallery show, a quilt group, or a performance. That mix gives people of different ages a place to show up for something active, creative, or social without needing to choose just one lane. For donors, the appeal is simple: this is a low-cost or no-cost space that keeps San Marcos connected through real shared activity.

What stands out here is the range of what happens under one roof in downtown San Marcos. There is a historic event venue, public gallery space, Shop 1893, and daily wellness and creative programming, all anchored by intergenerational use. It is not just a place to visit, it is a place to participate.

Origin

Our story

Greater San Marcos Area Seniors Association, Inc. was incorporated in 1996 and became the corporate manager of the H. Y. Price, Jr. Seniors Center, known as The Price Center. The building had been donated to the City of San Marcos by philanthropist H.Y. Price, Jr. in 1994 for youth and senior citizen activity programs. The association signed a lease in 1998 and took on renovation responsibilities, and since the early 2000s it has operated the center as a low-cost or no-cost gathering place for intergenerational cultural, social, intellectual, and artistic activities.
