About Guadalupe Community Center
A family may need a meal, help with a utility bill, support at tax time, or a safe place for a child to learn. Guadalupe Community Center meets those immediate needs in San Antonio while also offering tutoring, financial coaching, parenting resources, and help accessing SNAP. Your gift supports services that help individuals and families move toward greater self-sufficiency.
Guadalupe Community Center serves people across many stages of life, from K-12 students and pregnant and parenting families to older adults who need relief from the heat. Its support can begin with emergency food, clothing, rent, or utility assistance and extend to tutoring, tax preparation, budgeting help, and access to benefits.
Programs

After School Program
Free tutoring, mentoring, extracurricular and social activities, homework assistance, fresh meals, reading support, and STEM modules for students in kindergarten through 12th grade.
Emergency Financial Assistance
One-time assistance for eligible individuals and families to help prevent homelessness and utility disconnection, along with financial coaching and budgeting assessment.
Rental or Utility Assistance
Assistance inquiries and appointments for rent and utility needs.
SNAP Assistance
Case managers help individuals and families access Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program food assistance.
St. Phocas Garden
A community garden that provides organic produce throughout the year to supplement the St. Stephen’s CARE Center Food Pantry.
Project Cool
Free box fans for Bexar County seniors age 60 and older and disabled individuals from June through December to reduce heat-related illness and death.
Veronica’s Boutique
Free parenting education, diapers, formula, baby-related material assistance, and wraparound services for pregnant and parenting families with children younger than 36 months.
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance
Free tax preparation for eligible individuals, including amended returns and assistance with Individual Taxpayer Identification Number applications.
Food Pantry
Emergency food assistance through St. Stephen’s CARE Center and a mobile food pantry.
Clothes Closet
Clothing assistance through St. Stephen’s CARE Center.

Emergency financial assistance requires an eviction notice and/or utility disconnection notice and is available once annually. Project Cool applicants must provide identification showing they are at least 60 years old or provide a disability letter. VITA assistance is available to people earning up to $65,000 annually, with document requirements and scheduled office hours listed by the center.
