About Midland Rape Crisis Center Inc

Midland Rape Crisis Center Inc offers free, confidential support for survivors of child abuse, commercially sexually exploited youth, and adult survivors of sexual assault in the Permian Basin. That means a trained advocate can answer the hotline, a family can get help navigating the process, and a survivor can be accompanied through a sexual assault forensic exam at Midland Memorial Hospital. For donors, the value is plain: this is support people can actually reach when life has already gotten overwhelming.

What sets MRCCAC apart is the range of help available under one roof, from child advocacy center services to sexual assault crisis services. It also works across multiple West Texas counties with coordinated case response, so survivors, children, and caregivers are not left to piece everything together on their own.

Origin

Our story

In 1979, the Midland Rape Crisis Center began serving survivors of sexual assault after a group of individuals and law enforcement representatives responded to concerns about rape and its lasting effects. In 1996, it added the Children’s Advocacy Center program to make the justice process more sensitive and responsive for children affected by sexual abuse and severe physical abuse. The organization later opened a satellite office in Andrews County in 2007 and another in Howard County in 2018, and it now operates as the Midland Rape Crisis and Children’s Advocacy Center.
