Overview

About Mother Teresa House Inc

At Mother Teresa House, the big idea is simple and practical: give low-income men and women living with HIV/AIDS a stable place to live, along with the supportive services they need to stay more independent. The housing is long-term, and the support is designed around real physical, social, and psychological needs. For donors, that means helping people hold onto home, routine, and dignity in one place.

Mother Teresa House is a separate corporation within the Ministry of Caring network, created specifically for low-income men and women living with HIV/AIDS who do not require skilled nursing. That focus matters because it keeps the housing centered on independent living, with support built around the resident rather than around a hospital-style setting.

Origin

Our story

Planning for Mother Teresa House started in 2008, with a clear need in mind, affordable housing for people living with HIV/AIDS. In 2009, the Ministry of Caring sponsored the incorporation of Mother Teresa House Inc., and Lee and Marian Ramunno donated two adjoining lots while the City of Wilmington added another. Construction began in summer 2010 and finished in summer 2011, creating a separate corporation that now provides independent housing with supportive services in Wilmington.
