Overview

About Omaha Chapter Inc

At the 48th Street Club, recovery has a place to land. Omaha Chapter Inc. provides meeting space for 12 Step groups and keeps the setting comfortable, drug- and alcohol-free for people recovering from alcoholism, along with their families and guests. It also hosts more than 40 meetings a week, plus holiday dinners and barbecues that give the room a little more warmth than a sign on the door can ever do.

What sets Omaha Chapter, Inc. apart is that it operates the 48th Street Club as its own separate nonprofit meeting place for 12 Step groups. That gives people a steady place for meetings and community events in a drug- and alcohol-free environment.

Origin

Our story

Omaha Chapter, Inc. was formed on August 10, 1959, to own and operate the 48th Street Club. Members of Alcoholics Anonymous who had been meeting at 219 N. 48th Street decided to buy the property and establish a new AA club, and the Salvation Army agreed to purchase the house and sell it to the group as an AA meeting place. The goal was simple and practical, to provide meeting facilities and a safe environment for sober living skills, and the club has remained a separate nonprofit corporation from Alcoholics Anonymous.
