About Omaha Front Runners-Walkers

Omaha Front Runners-Walkers gives LGBTQ+ runners and walkers a regular place to show up, move together, and see familiar faces around Omaha and Council Bluffs. The group meets every week, keeps the calendar social with a December holiday party and a spring chili cookoff, and helps sponsor the Heartland Pride Fun Run and Walk each summer. For donors, that means supporting a club that is both a workout group and a steady piece of community life.

What sets Omaha Front Runners-Walkers apart is how naturally the group moves between the road and the rest of life. One week it is a Sunday run or a Wednesday walk at a rotating park, the next it is a holiday party, chili cookoff, or Pride event support. It is also one of the main LGBT groups helping sponsor the Heartland Pride Fun Run and Walk in the Omaha area.

Program 01

Weekly run and walk meetings

Group run and walk meetups on Sundays at 10am and Wednesdays at 6:30pm, with locations rotating around the Omaha metro and using different parks as starting points.

Holiday party

A December holiday gathering for members and participants.

A chili cookoff held in the spring.

Origin

Our story

Omaha Front Runners-Walkers began in 1988 and has been part of the Omaha and Council Bluffs area for a long time. The club grew to about 55 to 60 members at its peak and now counts about 15 to 20 regular members.
