About Women's Fund Of Greater Omaha Inc
The Women’s Fund of Greater Omaha has spent decades backing the work that often gets underfunded first, from sexual health access to economic security to freedom from violence. If you care about practical support for women, girls, transgender and gender expansive people, and anyone facing gender-based oppression, this is an organization that keeps its attention on what people actually need. Its work is local, specific, and built around policy, research, and grants that move together toward gender equity.
What sets the Women’s Fund apart is how rooted it is in Omaha and how clearly it stays focused on gender-based inequities. It does not stop at grantmaking, it also brings research and policy advocacy to the table, while centering survivor voices and leadership development along the way.

Our story
In 1990, a small group of women leaders in Omaha saw that women’s issues and programs were not getting enough funding. With support from a Ford/MacArthur Foundation grant, they established the Women’s Fund inside the Omaha Community Foundation to push for women’s full partnership in the community. Over time, that effort grew into a research, grantmaking, and advocacy organization centered on gender equity.
