Overview

About Axe of Love and Kindness Foundation

When a child is in critical care, parents may be living at the bedside while trying to manage the practical details of daily life. Axe of Love and Kindness Foundation supports children and families with Caregiver Comfort Kits, Anti-Itch Kits, toys, heart warrior packages, meals, hygiene supplies, and other resources. Your gift helps bring comfort and useful support to families navigating hospitalization, heart surgery, and critical care.

The foundation’s work comes directly from a family’s experience with a child’s six-month hospitalization for severe heart failure. That perspective shows up in the details, from backpacks with more than 30 essentials for parents to soft vests, nighttime gloves, coloring materials, and other child-focused support.

Stories

The people behind the work.

Axell’s journey from heart failure to the inspiration behind the foundation

Axell Logan Kendrick was a healthy, active child who developed severe heart failure after a virus. He spent six months at Texas Children’s Hospital supported by a Berlin Heart pump. In May, his heart showed signs of healing, and on June 11, six months after admission, he was discharged from inpatient care. His experience became the reason his family founded Axe of Love and Kindness.

I am strong, I am tough, I got this.

Oakley’s heart transplant journey

Oakley’s heart condition was identified before birth. After surgeries and worsening heart failure, she was listed for a transplant and spent 365 days inpatient. On February 16, 2025, her family received the call that a donor heart was available. After 385 days, Oakley went home and was able to run and play with her younger brother.

The little moments are the big ones. I’ll never take them for granted again.
