About Court Appointed Special Advocates Casa
When an abused or neglected child enters the child welfare system, a trained CASA volunteer speaks up for that child’s best interests. In Liberty and Chambers Counties, advocates research each child’s circumstances, monitor their safety and well-being, and help guide cases toward safe, permanent homes. In the last five years, CASA has served over 700 children and logged more than 45,000 volunteer hours, giving donors a direct way to support careful, personal advocacy.
CASA of Liberty & Chambers Counties gives children an individual, court-appointed volunteer advocate who typically handles only one or two cases at a time. That advocate follows the case toward a safe, permanent home, while paying attention to the child’s medical, psychological, educational, and housing needs.

What is Fostering Futures?
Fostering Futures helps older youth in foster care prepare for independence. Participants set short- and long-term goals and work on practical skills such as budgeting, applying for housing, arranging health insurance, pursuing education or vocational training, and seeking employment.
How does Collaborative Family Engagement work?
CASA works with the Department of Family and Protective Services to find relatives and other committed adults in a child’s life, then helps build meaningful relationships and plans for the child’s future. The work includes specialized training, ongoing coaching, and collaboration between CASA and CPS.
Can a CASA advocate provide legal representation?
No. The child’s attorney provides legal representation and legal advice. A CASA advocate shares information about the child’s circumstances, supports the attorney’s work, and independently speaks up for the child’s best interests in court.
