Furry Friends Animal Rescue
About Furry Friends Animal Rescue
Furry Friends Animal Rescue pulls homeless cats and dogs in North Texas, mostly from the Collin County Animal Shelter, and gives them a place to land in foster homes instead of a shelter. Before adoption, each animal gets veterinary care that can include spay and neuter, vaccinations, microchips, and treatment for medical needs. If you care about a rescue that does the hard, practical work before the happy ending, this is that kind of organization.
Furry Friends does not operate a physical shelter. Its animals live in foster homes, with some cats also shown at McKinney PetSmart adoption centers for approved adopters to meet them. The rescue also sends each animal out fully vetted, so they are ready for permanent homes.

Frequently asked questions
Common questions about this nonprofit and how its work happens.
How do I meet an adoptable cat or dog?
Start with an online adoption application. If you’re approved, the foster parent will reach out to set up a meet and greet, and some cats can also be seen at McKinney PetSmart adoption centers.
Does Furry Friends Animal Rescue have a physical shelter?
No. The cats and dogs live in foster homes, not in a shelter.
What is included in the adoption fee?
The adoption fee helps cover rescue and vetting costs. Cats and dogs are fully vetted, including spay or neuter, rabies vaccination, age-appropriate viral vaccinations, heartworm testing for dogs over six months, heartworm treatment if necessary, deworming, flea and tick preventative, and microchip.
Do dogs require a home visit before adoption?
Yes. Approved dog adoptions include a home visit by a volunteer, and dogs are adopted to homes within a reasonable driving distance of the foster home.
Does the organization take owner-surrendered pets?
No. At this time, its foster homes are full with cats and dogs rescued from shelters.
