Overview

About Nebraska Afghan Community Center

At Nebraska Afghan Community Center, the practical stuff gets handled in the same place as the human stuff. Families can get help with English at home, documents, benefits, health appointments, transportation, and school issues, while also finding community through events and sports. For donors, that means support that is immediate, useful, and rooted in the realities Afghan families in Nebraska are navigating every day.

What sets NACC apart is how grounded it is. Afghan families can get walk-in self-sufficiency help, in-home English instruction, and community connection through one Afghan-led center, instead of being sent from place to place. The result is support that feels both practical and familiar.

Origin

Our story

Nebraska Afghan Community Center was established on March 17, 2021 to help Afghan families across Nebraska. After the Afghan government's fall in August 2021 and the arrival of many Afghan families in Omaha and Lincoln, community leaders built a grassroots support network, then turned it into NACC as a more strategic and sustainable nonprofit with volunteer-led initiatives.
