Northeast Houston Redevelopment Council
About Northeast Houston Redevelopment Council
Northeast Houston Redevelopment Council grew out of Hurricane Harvey recovery work and still carries that same neighbor-first energy. In northeast Houston, that means farmers markets that accept SNAP, pantry partnerships, gardens, student wraparound support, and disaster recovery help that reaches people where they are. If you want to support an organization with a very local footprint and a broad view of what community stability actually takes, NEHRC is doing that work.
What sets NEHRC apart is how closely its work stays tied to the needs of historically underserved communities in northeast Houston. The group is not only helping with food access, it is also supporting students, preparing neighbors for disasters, and building local partnerships with churches, schools, and neighborhood coalitions.

Our story
NEHRC grew out of the August 2017 Hurricane Harvey recovery effort in Northeast Houston, when Trinity Gardens Church of Christ members, Mission Continues, I’ll Have What She’s Having, and other households and organizations provided resources to residents for more than 30 days. From there, the work continued through farmers markets, community, residential, and school gardens, Lily Pads, and mobile pantry and vaccination drives.
