About San Antonio Women's Hall Of Fame

San Antonio Women’s Hall of Fame starts with women who have already done remarkable work in San Antonio, then keeps the story going with scholarships and mentorship for Young Women’s Leadership Academy students. Since 2015, nearly 300 scholarship awards and renewals have gone to YWLA graduates, and members also meet students through mentoring and a speaker series. If you want to support local women at both ends of that pipeline, this is an organization with a very clear lane.

What sets SAWHOF apart is how directly it connects honoring accomplished women with supporting young women who are still building their path. Inductees become members, students hear from them, and scholarship support helps YWLA graduates keep going toward college.

Origin

Our story

In 1984, after Women in Texas Today week, Dr. Gloria Jo Floyd had the idea for a San Antonio Women’s Hall of Fame. She worked with 30 other women who gathered at Ruth Bower’s home to develop it, and the organization was formally established in 1987. A scholarship trust fund followed in 1998, giving the group a lasting way to honor women in San Antonio and support young women’s education.
