About Donna Street Community Center Inc

Donna Street Community Center gives youth and families in North Las Vegas a neighborhood place to land. Inside, you find tutoring, meals, free technology access, mentoring, job placement support, and community events, all serving children and youth ages 5 to 18 in an underserved community. For donors, the appeal is simple: this is a center built around what families actually need day to day. It is also a place that treats enrichment as part of support, not an extra. Along with academic help and food resources, the center offers music, arts, financial literacy, restorative practices, and culturally relevant activities for young people.

What makes Donna Street Community Center stand out is how much is happening under one roof without losing its neighborhood feel. Alongside tutoring and meals, it offers free technology access, mentoring, community events, and options like hip hop entrepreneurship, DJ and music production, and jiu-jitsu training.

Origin

Our story

Robert Strawder Jr. started Donna Street Community Center after growing up on Donna Street and seeing food scarcity, limited resources, crime, gangs, and barriers to technology. He opened the center to create a safe, welcoming space where young people and their families could find hope, support, and opportunity. The center later had a grand reopening in February 2023.
