About Issues Concerning Adolescents of Nevada
At I.C.A.N., youth ages 11 to 17 do not just sit through a lecture and head home. They spend time in Leadership Camp, monthly meetings, and youth-led performance activities that help them build self-reliance, leadership skills, and the kind of peer confidence that sticks. For donors, that means supporting a program that stays present in young people’s lives after camp ends, with mentorship woven into the year.
What sets I.C.A.N. apart is how steady its programming is. Leadership Camp gives youth a starting point, monthly meetings keep that connection going during the school year, and the performance group gives young people a way to carry the message themselves through skits, monologues, poems, and the Drug-Free Variety Show.

Our story
I.C.A.N. grew out of a long Southern Nevada youth prevention history that started with Students Against Driving Drunk in 1986 and the first SADD Camp in 1987. The program later became S.T.A.T.U.S. under Clark County School District leadership in 1990, then HEROs in the late 1990s. In 2005, HEROs split into several nonprofit entities, including Issues Concerning Adolescents of Nevada, which was officially founded on November 16, 2006 and received 501(c)(3) status on April 2, 2008.
