Overview

About Nevada Rural Housing Inc

In rural Nevada, housing support can mean a voucher, help with a security deposit, a path to a first home, or repairs that keep a place livable. Nevada Rural Housing works across that whole stretch, serving renters, homebuyers, and the people and properties that make affordable housing possible outside Washoe and Clark counties. If you care about what it takes to stay housed, and eventually own a home, this is the kind of organization that meets people where the need is.

What sets Nevada Rural Housing apart is the range of housing work it holds under one roof for rural communities. It does direct rental assistance and homeownership financing, but it also handles development, preservation, property management, research, and lender training, so the support does not stop at one program or one moment.

Origin

Our story

Nevada Rural Housing started in 1973 as a state agency under the Nevada Department of Business and Industry, serving as a Public Housing Authority. In 1995, it became a local-governmental unit with its own governing board. Then in 2005, AB372 clarified its jurisdiction and programs, giving it room to expand housing services across rural Nevada.

For the community

Need help?

For rental assistance, applicants apply online when a wait list is open and are selected by random lottery, then complete intake in Rent Cafe and work with a caseworker. Emergency Rental Assistance is available to renters in NRH jurisdictions facing eviction or utility shut-off for non-payment, and homeownership programs require an approved lender and completion of Homebuyer 101.
