About Step 2 Inc
At Step 2 Inc in Reno, the work starts with a simple idea, no woman should have to choose between treatment and motherhood. Women can move through residential care, transitional housing, and outpatient support while also getting help with parenting, childcare, domestic violence education, employment, and health care. For donors, that means support goes beyond getting through today. It helps women keep moving toward a stable life with their children alongside them whenever possible.
Step 2 Inc stands out because it keeps the focus on women, often mothers and pregnant women, through a recovery path that can continue from residential care to transitional housing to outpatient support. The family piece is built in, not added later, with children staying with their mothers whenever possible.
Programs
The concrete work this nonprofit runs. Each program may later become a fundable project.
Residential Program
Residential treatment at the Redfield Residential Facility, with dormitory-style living, supervised social and creative activities, and up to 30 hours of therapeutic services per week.
Transitional Housing
Lighthouse Campus housing for women after residential treatment, with 1-, 2-, and 3-bedroom cottages, continued therapy, and the option for children to live with their mothers.
Outpatient Services
Ongoing therapy and support for women who have completed residential or transitional housing, or who are living off campus with stable housing.
Employment Development Program
Employment support that includes résumé building, interview skills, interview clothing, transportation to job interviews, and monthly bus passes.
Parenting Support and Childcare Assistance
Support that includes parenting classes, parenting education, childcare assistance, and breastfeeding support.
Domestic Violence Education and Prevention
Education and prevention support focused on domestic violence as part of the recovery journey.
Family Medical Clinic
On-campus access to essential healthcare for women and families.
Mental Health Clinic
On-campus mental health support for women with co-occurring diagnoses and related needs.

To break the cycle of addiction and violence in families by empowering women to build and maintain a clean and sober life.

How someone in need can access Step 2 Inc’s services.
People seeking help can complete a STEP2 application online or by QR code, and walk-ins are welcome Monday through Thursday at 1 PM. Applicants can also call 775-787-9411 for general inquiries and assessments. Women who need safe housing may enter residential treatment, while women with stable housing may enter outpatient services.

Who does STEP2 serve?
STEP2 serves adult women battling substance use disorder, including mothers and pregnant women.
Can children live with their mothers at STEP2?
Infants 6 months or younger may stay with their mothers in the residential facility, and children can live with their mothers in transitional housing on the Lighthouse Campus.
How long is the STEP2 program?
The program is highly personalized, but it lasts up to one year on average, with 2 to 3 months in residential treatment and 9 to 15 months in transitional housing if desired.
What if I already have stable housing?
Women with stable housing can remain at home while participating in Intensive Outpatient Program or Outpatient Program services on campus.
Will STEP2 help with employment?
Yes. STEP2 offers an Employment Development Program that helps women build résumés, learn interview skills, access interview clothing, and arrange transportation to interviews.
