About The Coalition Inc
The Coalition’s work starts with young people, like the high school seniors in Drug-Free All Stars and the students in Drug-Free Councils who model what it looks like to stay alcohol-, tobacco-, and drug-free. Around them, the organization brings schools, businesses, families, and event organizers into the same effort, from prevention education to drug-free workplaces and family-friendly festivals. It also gives adults practical support through Project Quit, including free tobacco cessation resources.

Drug-Free All Stars
A select group of high school seniors who are alcohol-, tobacco-, and drug-free role models. They are trained as community leaders, mentor younger youth, and volunteer at community activities.
Drug-Free Councils
Campus-based student groups supported with area school districts. High school students who choose to be alcohol-, drug-, and nicotine-free conduct prevention activities and mentor younger peers.
Drug-Free Business Partnership
A free partnership open to Angelina County businesses that helps create drug-free and tobacco-free work environments.
Family Friendly Festivals Partnership
A partnership that works with local event organizers to limit alcohol availability and use at public events and festivals.
Interagency Coalition
A voluntary organization of nonprofit social service agencies in East Texas that links community needs with community resources and meets monthly.
Project Quit
Free tobacco cessation resources, including access to the statewide quitline, Quit Coach counseling, self-help booklets, and possible nicotine-replacement therapy.
Power Up Youth Campaign
Evidence-based educational materials designed to raise awareness and support prevention efforts among teens, parents, families, and educators.

Educational materials for parents and adults focused on prevention conversations and substance-misuse awareness.
About this work
Mission
The Coalition will eliminate the use of harmful substances by influencing public policy, laws, attitudes, and behaviors to foster healthy lifelong choices in East Texas. It focuses on reducing tobacco use by educating people about the benefits of clean indoor air.
Who they serve
Youth in Angelina County and East Texas, along with parents, schools, businesses, families, and community organizations.
Their impact
- More than 1,500 Angelina County youth have been trained as Drug-Free All Stars.
- Underage drinking in middle and high school drug surveys declined from 36.8% in 1984 to 16.8% in 2018.
- Drug-Free All Stars collectively volunteered over 1,750 hours in one school year.
- The Coalition assisted with the installation of two permanent prescription drug drop boxes in Angelina County.
- In a tobacco minor sting operation, 43 of 49 attempts did not result in sales to minors.
