How are boys housed at West Texas Boys Ranch?
Each boy lives in a ranch cottage with up to eight boys and a married cottage couple. The couple serves as full-time, live-in role models, and each boy has his own bedroom within the family unit.
What educational support is available?
Boys attend local public schools and can receive academic support at the on-site Learning Center, which has computers, a library, an education coordinator, and tutors. A limited number of partial on-campus school spots are also available through a third-party online school district.
What activities help boys develop practical skills?
Boys can take part in sports, 4-H shows, fishing, horseback riding, and the Horsebarn Program. Through the Work Bell Program, they can earn money during the summer by helping with ranch operations, and older boys may be eligible for jobs in town.
What support is available as boys prepare for life after the ranch?
Each boy receives an individualized Plan of Service. As graduation approaches, support may include career counseling, college scholarships, and vocational training. Family reunification is encouraged when possible, and counseling is provided through West Texas Counseling & Guidance as needed.
