Austin Dog Rescue Inc
About Austin Dog Rescue Inc
Austin Dog Rescue gives shelter dogs, strays, and dogs that have been abandoned a place to land before they are adopted. Instead of a kennel, each dog lives with a volunteer foster caregiver, where it can get day-to-day care, attention, and the medical treatment it needs. If you care about dogs getting a real shot at a permanent home, this is the kind of rescue that does the patient, hands-on work behind that second chance.
What sets Austin Dog Rescue apart is the foster home setup. Dogs live in a family setting, not a physical shelter, while they wait for adoption, and that’s paired with medical care and a structured approval process before placement. It is a practical, very human way to move dogs from unstable situations into permanent homes.

Frequently asked questions
Common questions about this nonprofit and how its work happens.
How does the adoption process work?
People start by submitting an adoption application. The organization verifies residence and veterinary information, and if the applicant is preliminarily approved, they are connected with the foster caregiver to set up a meeting with the dog.
Why do applicants need to be pre-screened before meeting a dog?
Because the dogs live in volunteer foster homes, pre-screening helps keep the dogs and foster families protected, and it keeps the process moving efficiently.
What kinds of care do rescued dogs receive before adoption?
Dogs can receive medical care as needed before they are adopted, including testing, vaccines, spay or neuter, heartworm care, microchipping, and treatment for illnesses or injuries.
What if someone has a dog that needs to be rehomed?
People with a dog that needs to be rehomed are invited to reach out through the foster dog submission process or the contact page.
