About Cocker Spaniel Rescue Of Austin

Cocker Spaniel Rescue of Austin/San Antonio works with the dogs that need a little more than a quick handoff. It rescues, rehabilitates, and re-homes Cocker Spaniels through foster homes, medical care, and careful adoption matching, so each dog has a real shot at the right next home. For donors, the appeal is simple: your support helps move dogs from surrender or uncertainty into homes that fit them. It also opens the door for older dogs, including through the Enduring Love Program and Seniors for Seniors adoptions.

This rescue focuses specifically on Cocker Spaniels, so its work stays narrow in the best way possible. Because it relies on foster homes instead of a kennel or shelter, dogs get one-on-one attention while they are being evaluated, cared for, and matched. It also makes room for senior dogs through programs built around older pets and the people who want to adopt them.

Program 04

Seniors for Seniors Adoptions

Helps people aged 65 or better adopt a senior Cocker Spaniel, typically over age 7, with a reduced adoption fee for those on fixed incomes.

Program 05

Adoption process and sleepover placements

Uses an application, phone or email interview, reference and vet checks, home visits, and sleepovers to match dogs with approved homes.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about this nonprofit and how its work happens.

How does the adoption process work?

You start with an application, then go through a phone or email interview, reference and vet checks, and a home visit. Once approved, the rescue can set up a sleepover so you and the dog can see whether it feels like a good fit.

What happens after a Cocker Spaniel is surrendered?

The dog gets a health check, needed immunizations, and spay or neuter care if needed. After that, the rescue usually places the dog in a foster home for evaluation and for matching with the right adoptive home.

Does the rescue use a kennel or shelter facility?

No. The dogs stay in foster homes, where they get one-on-one attention and care.

Who can use the Seniors for Seniors adoption program?

It is for people aged 65 or better, and it includes a reduced adoption fee of $25 for those on fixed incomes.

What kinds of dogs does the Enduring Love Program focus on?

It focuses on older Cocker Spaniels, typically those over age 7, and gives senior dogs foster homes and placement support.
