About Genesis Community Health

Genesis Community Health serves low-income, uninsured people in Idaho’s Treasure Valley with free medical, dental, and mental health care, plus prescription help, specialty referrals, community resource navigation, and spiritual support. In Garden City and Caldwell, that means patients can get care from volunteer clinicians, staff, and community partners without a bill hanging over the visit. In one year, Genesis provided 6,476 charity encounters and filled 2,743 prescriptions, valued at $184,763.

What stands out here is the range of support wrapped around a free visit. A patient can come in for primary care or dental care, then get help with prescriptions, specialist referrals, food, housing, utility assistance, or WIC if they need it. The care is relationship-based and depends on volunteer clinicians and local partners, which gives it a very human scale.

Stories

The people behind the work.

Peter’s broken tooth was treated and his pain ended

Peter called the clinic crying because the sharp edge of a broken tooth was cutting his tongue when he ate. He had no insurance and had not visited a dentist in 15 years. He qualified for Genesis’ medical and dental programs, received treatment, and later returned with artwork as a gift.

Could Genesis help him with the pain?

Rosita regained support for diabetes care and daily life

Rosita, a newly arrived immigrant, was isolated at home as type 1 diabetes and progressive blindness made it harder to manage her health. Genesis staff and volunteers used an interpreter app, helped establish eligibility for outside services, found transportation, and coordinated support so she could continue care and training.

Julietta’s cancer was detected, treated, and sent into remission

After an abnormal breast ultrasound and the need for a biopsy she could not afford, Julietta was referred to Genesis. The clinic scheduled the biopsy, connected her with community partners for rent and utilities, and supported her through surgery and radiation until her cancer was in remission.

Clay received free diabetes care and specialty support

Clay came to Genesis after struggling to afford medication and medical care for type 1 diabetes. He was registered as a patient and received periodic specialist visits, medication, dietician meetings, and help monitoring his blood pressure.

Samuel regained his smile and confidence

After losing his job, home, and most of his teeth, Samuel received dentures through Genesis Dental and counseling support that helped him work through depression. He said the care improved his confidence and helped him move forward.

You gave me back my smile!
