About Life Changes Inc

Life Changes, Inc. gives people a place to land when life has gotten complicated, through supportive housing, recovery services, workforce development, and education support. The work is especially grounded in the practical stuff that helps people move forward, like sober living homes, reentry help, and support for school and job goals. If you care about housing that also helps people build steadier days, this is an organization with a clear, lived-in purpose.

What sets Life Changes apart is how it meets people where they are, with housing, reentry support, education access, and creative healing all in the same orbit. Its Creative Impact Art Therapy program adds a trauma-informed path for residents who need more than a bed and a plan. That matters when the people it serves are rebuilding after addiction, incarceration, homelessness, and other hardship.

Origin

Our story

Life Changes began in 2010, when Lisa Moore opened a home for women in Sparks after a conversation about creating change in the community. From that first house, the organization grew into multiple properties in Reno and Sparks, and its work expanded to include men as well as women. What started as one home became a broader network of housing, recovery, education, and reentry support.

For the community

Need help?

How someone in need can access Life Changes Inc’s services.

For people incarcerated in a Nevada Department of Corrections facility, Life Changes asks for an email with the person's full name, NDOC number, and a short paragraph describing the assistance needed, then the team contacts the case manager and helps with the application process. For people who are not detained, the online application can be completed directly, and after release the resident is transported to parole and probation, picked up by the transportation specialist, taken to intake, assigned a residence, and scheduled for same-day intake whenever possible.

Impact in person

Stories

The people behind the work.

Emma's recovery journey

A young woman came to Life Changes addicted to heroin and tried many times to get clean and sober. Lisa Moore stayed with her through the process, and Emma eventually got and stayed clean and became a successful businesswoman.

Believing in someone until they can believe in themselves is the key to change.

Robert Vastvinder's search for a safe place

A resident described needing a safe place to avoid relapse after struggling with self-medication and relapse history. Life Changes provided sober living support and resources to help him begin again.

I have a history of relapse and stuff like that and I needed a safe place to be so I wouldn’t go down that route anymore.
