About MMIW TX Rematriate
MMIW TX Rematriate is a Dallas-based nonprofit founded in 2021 by Jodi Voice Yellowfish and her sister Snowy Voice to address one of the most urgent and underreported crises in our region: the epidemic of missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls. American Indian women are murdered at rates ten times the national average, and four out of five American Indian and Alaskan Native women have experienced violence. Yet 62% of MMIW cases are never included in missing person databases.
MMIW TX Rematriate helps Indigenous families search for and bring home missing and murdered relatives, standing in the gap between grieving families and a system that is often difficult to navigate, helping with law enforcement communication, media outreach, and flyer distribution, and offering steady human presence and support throughout.
As Jodi says, "If you come to us, you're now a relative, and we're going to take care of you like a relative."
Why This Work Matters to MBEI
At the Mind Body Ecology Institute, we believe that human flourishing and ecological flourishing are inseparable, and that both begin with honoring the dignity, heritage, and belonging of every person and community. MMIW TX Rematriate embodies this conviction in the most immediate and courageous way: protecting the lives of Indigenous women and girls in our own North Texas community, and working to heal the deep historical wounds of displacement and erasure that lie at the root of this crisis.
This fundraiser is an opportunity for you to support their impactful work.
“I know that many people find that we are at a moment of great distress in the world, but we also have never had as many possibilities of compassionate action as today."

About The Mind Body Ecology Institute
The Mind Body Ecology Institute gives people a place to slow down and reconnect, through nature-based mindfulness, eco retreats, resilience workshops, and meditation trainings. Its work is built around a simple but grounding idea: when people feel more connected to nature and to one another, they are better able to care for their own well-being and for the world around them. For donors, that means supporting programs that make room for belonging, resilience, and environmental stewardship in the same conversation.
What sets the institute apart is the way it moves between online circles, hybrid learning, and immersive retreats without losing its core focus on interdependence. Its offerings are shaped by Western science and humanities alongside Indigenous and contemplative wisdom, which gives the work a wide lens and a very specific center: helping people live with more connection, responsibility, and care.
