Overview

About Yorkie Rescue Houston

A lost Yorkie can spend five days waiting for the right person to come forward. Yorkie Rescue Houston uses that window to look for rightful owners, and when no one is found, it steps in to care for the dog, get needed veterinary treatment, and place them for adoption. The work stays personal because the dogs live in private foster homes, not a shelter.

What sets Yorkie Rescue Houston apart is how much of its work happens before a dog is ever adopted. It looks for lost and stolen Yorkies and other small dogs, then keeps caring for the ones who need a second chance through foster homes and vetting instead of a shelter setting.

Stories

Bella's recovery from severe neglect and medical needs

Bella was pulled from BARC with severe bronchitis, collapsing trachea, and skin infections. She received antibiotics, medicated baths, cytopoint, and later a spay after her infection improved, and she is looking for a soft home for her senior years.

I would love you more than you can imagine.

Charlie, a gentle senior seeking a calm home

Charlie is a 10-year-old Yorkie who arrived neutered, microchipped, housebroken, crate trained, and leash trained. He enjoys toys, fetch, and cuddling close, and he recently received dental care and follow-up veterinary treatment.

Diana's transition from a confined home to adoption readiness

Diana came in as an owner surrender after spending months in a cage. She received dental care and is ready for a forever home after living with little family stability.

For the community

Need help?

People seeking to adopt must submit an application, meet the age and local-placement requirements, and complete a meet and greet or appointment. People who need to surrender a Yorkie should submit an owner surrender form, and intake depends on available foster homes. Found dogs are held for five days to allow the rightful owner to reclaim them before adoption.
